Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data Newsframe ("we", "us", "our") collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We've tried to keep this readable rather than maximally legal-flavored.

1. What We Collect

We collect the minimum necessary to run the Service:

2. What We Don't Collect

We want to be clear about what we don't do:

We don't use third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or marketing pixels.
We don't sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
We don't use your content, search queries, or generated posts to train AI models.
We don't read or store the content of posts you generate. They live in your browser session and you download them.
We don't track your IP address or device beyond what's necessary for security and abuse prevention.

3. How Your Data Flows

When you use Newsframe:

You search for a story. Your query is sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which uses web search to find relevant articles. Results come back to your browser. We don't log or retain queries.
You generate a post. The selected story and your inputs (audience, post style, length) are sent to Anthropic to generate post text. The generated post lives in your browser session.
You create a brand graphic. All rendering happens in your browser — your logo, colors, and downloaded images never leave your device.
You upgrade to Pro. Stripe handles the payment. We receive a webhook event confirming payment, which we use to flip your plan to "Pro" in Clerk. We never see your card details.

4. Third-Party Services

Newsframe is built on the following providers. Each has its own privacy policy:

Clerk — authentication and account management. Stores your email, name, and subscription plan metadata.
Stripe — payment processing. Stores your payment method and billing history. PCI-compliant.
Anthropic — AI generation. Processes your search queries and post inputs. Per Anthropic's API terms, inputs are not used to train their models.
Vercel — hosting infrastructure. May log standard server access information (IP, timestamps) for security and operational purposes.

5. Local Browser Storage

Newsframe stores certain data in your browser's local storage to make the app work without a database:

Your brand settings (industry, colors, custom logo)
Recent searches (last few topics for convenience)
Monthly usage counters (to enforce plan limits)
A per-browser device ID used for abuse prevention

This data stays on your device. You can clear it at any time via your browser's settings (or by clearing site data for newsframe.ai). Doing so will reset your settings and counters but won't affect your account or subscription.

6. Cookies

We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookies set are by Clerk (for keeping you signed in) and Stripe (during checkout). These are functionally necessary — Newsframe won't work without them.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the data we hold about you. Most of it is visible in your account settings; for anything else, email us.
Correct inaccurate data — update your name and email in your account settings, or contact us.
Delete your account and associated data. You can delete your account from within the app (Account settings) or by emailing us. Deletion is processed within 30 days. Note that Stripe retains payment records as required by tax law, even after deletion.
Export your data. Email us and we'll send you a copy of what we hold (which is minimal — see Section 1).
Object to or restrict processing. Stop using Newsframe and your data stops being processed.

Residents of the EU/UK (GDPR), California (CCPA), and other jurisdictions with similar laws have additional rights. To exercise any of these, contact joe@novarocapital.com.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data (email, name, subscription history) for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we delete personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., Stripe records payment history for tax purposes for several years).

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all traffic, well-known providers (Clerk, Stripe) for sensitive data, no unnecessary data collection. We do not store payment card details ourselves. However, no system is perfectly secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

10. Children

Newsframe is not intended for users under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

11. International Users

Newsframe is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. Our third-party providers (Stripe, Clerk, Anthropic, Vercel) may process data in multiple jurisdictions. By using Newsframe, you consent to this transfer.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before taking effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
